ARCHITECTUREFIRM Featured in Out There: New Architecture Across America

Out There: New Architecture Across America is a stunning new publication from Merrell Publishers that presents a critical survey of America’s diverse design landscape. ARCHITECTUREFIRM was honored to be included as one of the 50 featured firms, contributing to a varied, vibrant picture of contemporary architecture, anchored in local culture, geography, and community needs across the country. Our James River House, Quirk Hotel Charlottesville, and Arts & Letters Creative Co. World Headquarters all use their sites as drivers for design, even though a rural landscape, an urban infill, and a reuse project seem like disparate starting points. Capturing or frequently protecting what is essential about a site is the most distinct underpinning of our practice. To illustrate our work and capture the distinct character of Richmond, we put forward our headquarters for Arts & Letters Creative Co., in which we transformed the 1930’s-era power plant for the Lucky Strike Tobacco complex into a vibrant, day-lit office for the phenomenal advertising and branding firm Arts & Letters Creative Co.
